Carter Draper
Senior Manager, Program - West and Northern Africa Hub / West & Northern Africa
Carter Draper is a native of Liberia; born and raised during Liberia's civil crises. Based on his experiences from the civil wars as a child, he finds value in humanitarian work, open data, access to information, and the rule of law as key elements to building resilient communities.
He also believes that youth participation, development, and direct community engagement are vital elements in humanitarian preparedness and response.
Carter is an ICT4D changemaker who in the past nine years worked with innovative teams, communities, governments, private sectors, and development actors across various programs ranging from geospatial and participatory mapping, health emergencies, climate change, community and youth development, early warning and response, elections, peace-building, entrepreneurship, and open governance.
A former Country Director at iLab Liberia, Carter now works for the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), supporting programs, and partnerships.
He's a husband, a father, and a leader with a huge passion for using map data to save and improve the lives of the earth’s population!
